Personal Travel Projects
Beyond my work in the studio and on the beaches of South Carolina, my camera has taken me around the world. These personal travel projects are where my passion for storytelling and human connection truly began. Through photography, I’ve witnessed life in places few tourists go, capturing moments of joy, hardship, resilience, and beauty.
From rural communities in Haiti and the colors of India to the quiet strength of children in Tanzania and the rhythms of life in Vietnam, each journey has shaped who I am as an artist. These projects reflect not only the people I’ve met but also my belief in the power of photography to tell stories that matter.
Why Personal Projects Matter to Me
As a photographer with a background in photojournalism, I believe in documenting life as it is. My travel projects are not staged or stylized. They are raw, real, and deeply human. Whether working with nonprofit organizations, local communities, or independently exploring, my goal is to honor the dignity and spirit of every person I photograph.
These experiences influence how I see and how I shoot. They’ve taught me patience, presence, and perspective. They continue to inform my work with clients back home, whether I’m capturing a family portrait or a wedding.
Where My Lens Has Traveled
Each project listed here was photographed with intention and heart. These are some of the places and stories that have stayed with me:
• Vietnam
Documenting daily life in fishing villages and rural towns, with a focus on generational traditions and family bonds.
• India
Photographing sacred rituals, markets, and street life in cities like Varanasi and Jaipur, exploring contrasts of ancient and modern life.
• Haiti
Working with humanitarian teams and capturing moments of faith, healing, and resilience in communities facing extreme poverty.
• Tanzania
Spending time with school children and families in Maasai villages, focusing on education, culture, and strength through adversity.
• Nicaragua
Photographing youth and families in remote communities impacted by economic challenges and vibrant traditions.
See the Stories
Each image in these galleries was made with respect and curiosity. These are not travel photos. They are human portraits. They reflect the moments I was honored to witness and the people who allowed me into their world.
Giving Back Through Photography
Several of these trips were made possible through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and community initiatives. I am grateful to use my skills as a photographer in service of storytelling that supports awareness, compassion, and change. If you are a nonprofit or organization seeking visual documentation of your work, I’d love to connect.
